Over the last few weeks at The Upper Room we have been contending for a dear friend and sister to be fully healed from skin cancer. She is scheduled to have surgery next Monday to remove a particular spot on her face that the doctors say is not terminal but cosmetically can be burdensome. My friend has been believing for two years that God would completely heal her without surgery. She and her husband have been holding to the promise that Jesus heals because that is WHO Jesus is and He does not change. After two years of crying out to God as a community we have joined in the cry for the same spirit that raised Jesus from the dead to manifest in her and bring complete healing.
We currently are waiting for her healing, but confident of God's heart towards her. Jesus is turned toward her. His heart is FOR her and He is smiling at her with delight. As a community of believers we won't relent crying out for her healing until we see it. Instead of believing our experiences or what is seen in the natural we agree with the Word of God. In Psalm 107:19-20 it says "then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble; He saved them out of their distresses. He sent His word and healed them, And delivered them from their destructions." We are taking the Word as true and agreeing with the heart of God to heal our friend. As we have cried out to the Lord for our friend to be healed He has and will save us. He will heal us and deliver us from our enemies (this includes skin cancer).
I know the topic of healing can be a hard topic to discuss. One that I have wrestled with personally, especially at times when I have prayed for people and they do not get healed at that time. The questions arise: Is God really good? Does God really heal today? Is it always God's will to heal? I won't get into the answers to these questions because honestly I don't know that I can answer that for other people. I just know how God has revealed His truth to me and what the Word of God says. I choose to believe His word over my experience until there is breakthrough.
What are you contending for today?
